>>New Studio, New Beginnings<< Columbus, Ohio Photographer

Hello Lovelies!

If you follow me on my social media accounts, you know I have been slammed with getting my new studio up and going while also taking on sessions 2-3 times a week. This being said, I have been SO busy, I haven’t had a time to really show off the studio and show you all how amazing it is!!

My new studio is an old church that was built in the 1860’s that throughout the years had been occupied as a house and eventually sat empty as it deteriorated.

I had always really liked this place, and even as far back as 2012 I would pass this building on the way to my sons preschool. I had joked with my husband that one day I was going to turn it into a studio and that started my goal of opening a photography studio downtown. I had dreams and high hopes for this building and the remodel would be too expensive, and too time consuming with having two (and eventually) three little boys.

However, being the small town that it is, finding a building that was not only suitable, but had character was difficult. Naturally, all of the older buildings right in downtown either needed extensive work or had long term tenants. This led me to a series of studios in Grandview, Gahanna and eventually Downtown Columbus for my last studio.

In the fall of 2020 I found a listing for the building! I was elated to see the church-house had been completely redone, but sad that this may never be my studio. However, stars aligned and in January 2021 I got a call from the owner! He had heard that my friend Megan and I were interested in possibly renting the church. After we viewed it, we knew we had to have it.

We have been in our studio for 4 months now and I am adoring the work I am producing here, as I am really taking advantage of using the old church windows and natural light. I have a full kitchen, bathroom (the shower is KILLER for boudoir!). Not only do I have a small room reserved just for newborns, but the amount of storage I have throughout the building is great which means I can keep my larger props on site and really expand my cake smash props and accessories. Also, my studio has an actual backyard that has already proven useful for seniors and headshots! My clients have a large seating area to relax in (or nap!) during the newborn sessions, and I am SO much closer to many restaurants and coffee shops.

Here are some images from recent sessions at my new studio. I can’t wait to have an open house so everyone can safely see the new space!
